Poland is situated just in the center of Europe. With its territory of 312683 square km (120725 square miles), it belongs to the biggest European states.
Poland borders with Germany to the West, Czech Republic and Slovakia to the South, Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and Lithuania to the East and Baltic Sea to the North.
In December 2007 Poland joined the Shengen area.
